1. ROBERT² PAYNE (JOHN¹) was born December 05, 1813, and died 1897. He married NANCY SCOTT.

Notes for ROBERT PAYNE:
The Paynes came to Kentucky from Franklin County, VA. They were of English descent. John, grandfather of Robert, came to Virginia from England. Robert Payne came ot Breckinridge County in 1834 and for a time managed a large tobacco warehouse in Hardinsburg for McClarty and fitzgerald. After he severed his connection with them, he purchased a large tract of land about four miles east of the count yseat. At one time he ownd 1500 acres of good land. He was well known through out the district.
