A Blessing given by W. Moroni Hamberlin, Patriarch, upon the head of Sterling Elmer Whaley, son of Otto Whaley and Mary Ann Sago, born June 23, 1925 at Huntington Park, Los Angeles, California.
Dear Brother Sterling Elmer Whaley, in the name of our beloed Savior, Jesus Christ, and by the authority of the holy Melchizedek Priesthood which I bear, as Stake Patriarch in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and according to your desires, and your wish, I place my hands upon your head and seal and confer upon you this patriarchal blessing, that it might strengthen you wherein you might be weak and make you strong.
You were faithful and true in the spirit world and it was because of your faithfulness, your obedience and your diligence there, that you were appointed to come to this earth in this glorious dispensation in the gospel, and repentence is here upon this earth. Now there has been a curtain drawn, you do not remember the promises that you made to our Heavenly Father that if He would permit you to come to this earth, you would keep His commandments and walk uprightly before Him. You have completed that part, you have kept your first estate, now if you will keep this, your second estate, you will be added upon forever and ever. The Lord is pleased with your life at this time and you are one of the choice spirits that was held back to come to the earth in this glorious dispensation.
You shall be a great influence over those with whom you come in contact. You will bring many souls into the fold of Christ. The Lord loves you for the integrity of your heart, for your willingness to listen, to be obedient to those with whom you work and those that are in authority over you. You may think that you have come to a point where your work is not very valuable, but it is very valuable. You are in just the very beginning of the positions that you will be called to in this church to serve the Lord as you keep His commandments. He will come to your aid in an hour of need.
You were born of goodly parents and you have come to this earth through a noble line of ancestors. You are of the royal blood of Israel, a descendent of Joseph, that fruitful bough was planted by the wall and the branches would go over the wall and you are through the lineage of his son Ephraim who was the greatest. There is much to be done and it is through this lineage that all nations of the earth shall be blessed. Cherish this heritage that you have, for it is through this heritage that the Ten Tribes will be taught. It is through this heritage that the gospel is being taught to the inhabitants of the earth today. It is through this lineage that the great and beautiful temple will be build in Missouri.
I give unto you a special blessing and a promise that if you will live worthy and be prepared for it, that you shall be called to assist, whether it be manual labor or monitary, to contribute to the building of that temple. You will live to see that temple built where the Savior will come to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. The building will be adorned with the gold and silver that the Ten Tribes will bring with them. What a glorious blessing to see the mantle of the Lord upon this beautiful building. This is a great promise given unto you and it will require a lot or righteous living to see these things before your very eyes.
You have been blessed with the holy Priesthood, use its power to bless and to be blessed. I give unto you a promise that if you live for it, you will have the gift of healing and you will have many other gifts given to you as you are prepared for them. You will be blessed to discern good from evil, to discern people who are willing to work for the Lod and to keep His commandments at all times.
This, dear Brother, shall be a memorable day in your life. Many times as you sojourn through life, you will know that is was through the inspiration of our Heavenly Father and revelation that these blessings were pronounced upon your head. Be thou humble and the Lord thy God will lead thee by thy hand and give answer unto thy prayers. Pray in secret, pray in public and then be willing to listen to the answers to these prayers and be willing to accept what the Lord gives you. Seek after faith, hope, charity and love. These are the qualities that will prepare you for an inheritance in the Celestial kingdom of God.
Remember, you have received the Holy Ghost which will always be your comfort and your guide so long as you live close to the Lord. You shall be able to read good books, to comprehend the meaning of them and to give the knowledge that you receive unto your fellowman. Pay your tithes and offerings so that you may escape the burning. The windows of Heaven will be opened unto you and pour out blessings upon you and you will not be able to contain them all. You shall be blessed to escape the diseases and the calamiteies that shall sweep the earth in the last days. I give unto a promise that you will stay upon this earth so long as life is sweet and pleasant and to do good unto your fellowman. You were on the Lords's side when Lucifer was expelled from the heavens above. The heavens wept when one third of the host of heaven departed. This has been recorded in the archives of heaven for the angels to look upon and rejoice. Your robes shall be washed white with the blood of the Lamb and your name shall be written in the Lamb's Book of Life there to remain forever and ever.
I give you a promise that you will have the knowledge and wisdom to take good care of your body. This is the body that your spirit will inhabit not only in this life, but in the eternities to come. Hold fast to the Iron Rod that will lead you back into the presence of our Heavenly Father from whence you came. Remember the passage from the Book of Luke wherein the Master said, "He that take hold of the plow and looketh back, is not worthy of the Kingdom of God". So, do not look back at the past, but look forward to the future with a bright and smiling face. The Lord will come to you in your hour of need and give unto you wisdom, strength and knowledge to carry on His work so long as He sees fit to keep you here on this earth.
I seal upon you every gift and blessing that you shall have the righteous desires of your heart. You shall not only have your family in this life, but in the eternities to come. So do not worry or fret over the things over which you have no power. These things are of the adversary. Be contented with the will of the Lord, to serve Him, to keep His commandments, and do everything that you possibly can to advance.
I seal you up to come forth at the time appointed by our Heavenly Father to be with the righeous, the true and the just so that you can say as the Apostle Paul said, "I have fought the good fight, I have kept the faith, I have finished the course, henceforth, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness , not only for me but for all those who serve the Lord and keep His commandments. It shall be said well done thy good and faithful servant, thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many." I give unto you the blessing that you will have great rejoicing in your posterity. You shall bring love, honor and peace unto them. These blessings, dear brother, are sealed upon you by the holy spirit of promise and your obedience and diligence unto the end. I seal them upon you by the power of the holy Melchizedek Priesthood and in the name of our beloved Savious Jesus Christ. Amen. Florette Nance - Secretary signed: W. Moroni Hamberlin
