Reuben said he was of age, joined the Union Army as a drummer boy (he was 14). After the war when he was 18 he married Fascellina. They came to Texas County, Missouri from Illinois. After guiding the wagon trains of his family from Illinois to Kansas, Reuben was in demand as a wagon master from Illinois to Missouri and Kentucky to Missouri. He received a Kansas land grant and later bought land in Bates County, Missouri between Rich Hill and Hume. He farmed, drove a state coach, was a teamster for a house-drawn fire engine in Rich Hill, was a rural mail carrier (horse-drawn carriage). In 1885 Fascellina was driving a team and wagon to Hume when something frightened the team and they ran and was turned over. She died in the arms of her son Felix and is buried in Lawrence Cemetery. Later Reuben married Caroline, who had two children by another marriage. Felix said that she showed so much favoritism to her children and mistreated Reuben's younger ones that he and Ben ran her off. After this Reuben married Maggie and they raised an adopted daughter Lucille. Reuben carried the mail until just before he died in 1925. He left his favorite horse "Old Slim" and his watch to Felix Eddie, his grandson.

EVENA CAROLINE VENA CAMPBELL:
Notes written by Charles Antal:
The following was written on one of the pieces of paper provided to me by my grandfather (I have no verification of its accuracy):

Levena Caroline Campbell was born at Licking, in Texas County, Missouri. Daughter of Captain William Lewis Campbell of the Confederate Army. When she was approximately 14 years old (around 1867) the family home burned and her mother was taken away by the raiders. The children, of which she was the oldest, were left to provide for themselves. How she survived until her marriage to Marcus Sabinus Brown (of Phelps County, Missouri) is not known. Her age at marriage was 15 1/2 years old. This information taken from her obituary composed by Christian Marcus Evans, her grandson. She had two brothers, Will Campbell and Tom Campbell. Tom Campbell was a saloon keeper in Dennison Texas around the turn of the century.
