472. Shubal CLAGHORN⁽²⁶⁸⁾⁽³¹⁴⁾⁽²⁴⁰⁾ was born in 1663 in Barnstable, Barnstable, MA. He died about Sep 1725.⁽²⁴⁰⁾ Claghorn Study states "died 1729." Bonnie Hubbard has first name spelled "Shubael;" sometimes spelled Shobal.
William Crumby Claghorn, in his Claghorn book says that Shubael "was at an early age of aggressive temperament, as we find that even before his admission to citizenship [31 July 1695], he felt aggrieved at the distribution of the public lands, and filed his protest on February 14th, 1694-94." "He served as executor and trustee of small estates several times, and was appointed fence-viewer 14 March 1722. Shubael married Jane Lovell and they had twelve children, with birthdates from 1689 to 1715. Exact dates for the nine boys and three girls are not known, and one of the boys evidently died before him as his will distributes "plate buttons, guns, wine glasses," etc. to his "eight sons." His estate was valued at £1577 and considered large for those times. (Bonnie Hubbard)
He was married to Jane LOVELL about 1688.

473. Jane LOVELL⁽²⁴⁰⁾⁽²⁶⁸⁾⁽⁶³⁾ was born in 20 or 28 Jul 1670 in Weymouth, England. Last name of Losell appears in some material. Claghorn Study has Jane's last name of "Lovell;" this is confirmed by Judy Goldbaum and Bonnie Hubbard. Children were:

i. James CLAGHORN⁽¹⁴³⁾ was born in Aug 1689 in Barnstable, Barnstable, MA. He died on 18 Jan 1749/50 in Edgartown, Martha's Vineyard, Dukes Co., MA. He was buried in Tower Hill Cemetery, Edgartown, Dukes Co., MA. Married Mercy Norton 30 Nov 1715 at Edgartown, MA.
WFT Vol. 9 #3749 has: "Barnstable innkeeper abt. 1715, first of name to settle in Martha's Vineyard, first purchase of land 26 July 1717 and resided there on North Water St. Kept public house, 1740-48.
ii. Thankful CLAGHORN⁽¹⁴³⁾ was born on 1 Jan 1690 in Barnstable, Barnstable, MA. She died on 6 Jan 1690.
iii. Thomas CLAGHORN⁽¹⁴³⁾ was born on 20 Mar 1692 in Barnstable, Barnstable, MA. He died in Feb 1784 in Eastville, Duke Co., MA. Married first Abiah Smith about 1720 at Edgartown, MA; married second Sarah Gibbs 2 Nov 1732. WFT Vol. 9 #3749 has: "Occupation: Innholder for fifty-three years in the old Linton House."

v. Robert CLAGHORN⁽¹⁴³⁾ was born on 18 Jul 1699 in Barnstable, Barnstable, MA. Married Thankful Coleman 16 Jan 1722 at Barnstable, MA.
vi. Benjamin CLAGHORN⁽¹⁴³⁾ was born on 14 Jun 1701 in Barnstable, Barnstable, MA.
vii. Thankful CLAGHORN⁽¹⁴³⁾ was born in 1703 in MA. Married Ebenezer Smith. According to tht Nat. Soc. of DAR, Vol. 124, p. 79, Ebenezer "was a patriot, justice of court and representative in General court of Selectmen. He was born in Edgartown, Mass., where, in 1793, he died."
viii. Reuben CLAGHORN⁽¹⁴³⁾ was born in 1706 in MA. He was baptised on 28 Apr 1706 in MA. Married Eleanor Lovell.
ix. Mary CLAGHORN⁽¹⁴³⁾ was born in 1707 in Barnstable, Barnstable, MA. Married Ebenezer Clarke 6 Mar 1729 at Rochester, MA.
x. Jane CLAGHORN⁽¹⁴³⁾ was born in 1709 in Barnstable, Barnstable, MA. Married Joshua Lambert, Jr.
xi. Ebenezer CLAGHORN⁽¹⁴³⁾ was born on 30 Jul 1712 in Barnstable, Barnstable, MA. Married first Sarah Lambert 30 Oct 1735; married second Elizabeth Hamblin 8 Sep 1763 at Barnstable, MA.
xii. Jabez CLAGHORN⁽¹⁴³⁾ was born in 1714/15 in MA.
