224. Robert CUSHMAN (252)(253) (63) was born on 4 Oct 1664 in Plymouth, Plymouth Co., MA.(254) (255) "(appar. computed from age at d. but must be wrong; prob. b. 1665)" (Allerton, p. 9) He died on 7 Sep 1757 in Kingston, Plymouth Co., MA.(256) age at death: "92y 11m 3d." The "First Seven Generations" book has death date of 30 Sep 1757. He was buried in Old Cemetery, Kingston, MA. All 7 children of Robert and Persis were baptized at Plymouth in 1718. His 2nd marriage, just one year after the death of Persis, was to Prudence Sherman of Marshfield, 2 Feb 1744, when he was almost 80 and she was "a maiden turned of 70!"; they had no children. Robert lived to be almost 93 years of age. "The will of Robert Cushman of Kinston Senr., yeoman, dated 9 Feb 1746/47, codicil 9 May 1749, proved 7 May 1757, names wife Prudence; sons Robert, Thomas, Joshua and Jonathan Cushman; daughters Ruth Perkins, Abigail Leonard and Hannah Washburn. The account of 4 Nov 1758 mentions a horse given to the widow." He was married to Persis LEWIS about 1697 in MA.

The following is a response to this posting by Judy Goldbaum on November 15,
1998 at 19:42:01: "According to Henry Wyles Cushman book, Job and twin
Elkanah, Bartholomew and Mary "died with throat ail or distemper (probably
'croup') within eight hours," There is no reason given for the death of
Lydia on 4 Jan 1747/8. It is also characterized as a disease with a violent,
putrid fever with sore throat, not attended with eruption. The 4 children were
buried in the same grave. I have seen the grave."
