40. Isaac OSBORN (112) (photo) was born about 1755 in E. Hampton, Suffolk, NY. He was christened on 17 Dec 1772. He died after 1824 in (prob.) Fairfield, Somerset, ME. Sea captain; moved to Maine where he married at Winslow, later moving to Fairfield which was then considered "wilderness." Isaac & Sarah's Fairfield, ME, home stands today with some additions made. (Photo was taken of this home in 1990; address of Route 201, Fairfield, ME 04937)

ISAAC OSBORN CAME TO POWNALBOROUGH (NOW DRESDEN), MAINE IN 1785. POWNALBOROUGH WAS THEN THE PRINCIPAL POINT OF ENTRY FOR IMMIGRANTS INTO THE PROVINCE OF MAINE, A PART OF MASSACHUSETTS. THE LIKELY REASON WAS THAT POWNALBOROUGH IS SITUATED ON THE WESTERLY BANK OF THE KENNEBEC RIVER AND SHALLOPS FROM BOSTON AND NEW YORK COULD NAVIGATE TO IT, PLUS FORT WESTERN AT AUGUSTA, MAINE, WAS NOT FAR UP RIVER AND WAS ABLE TO DETER MOST INVADING INDIANS. WILLIAM AND LOVE WYMAN (PARENTS OF ISAAC'S WIFE) ALSO CAME TO POWNALBOROUGH AND THEN MOVED ON TO WINSLOW, MAINE, WITH THEIR CHILDREN IN 1786. ISAAC SOON FOLLOWED AFTER AND ISAAC AND SARAH FILED THEIR INTENTIONS OF MARRIAGE IN WINSLOW ON NOVEMBER 15, 1787." He was married to Sarah WYMAN on 15 Nov 1787 in Winslow, Kennebec, ME.

41. Sarah WYMAN (112) was born about 1766 in MA. She died after 1824 in (prob.) Fairfield, Somerset, ME. Children were:

child ii. Deborah OSBORN(112) was born on 5 Dec 1790 in Winslow, Kennebec, ME. She died (abt) 1879. Married Zebediah Littlefield, 9 Aug 1818(?).
child iii. Isaac OSBORN(112) was born on 15 Sep 1792 in Winslow, Kennebec, ME. He died (abt) 1881. Married to Mille (or MILLE).
child iv. Dr. William OSBORN(112) was born on 22 Dec 1794 in Winslow, Kennebec, ME. He died on 26 Oct 1880.
child v. Jacob OSBORN(112) was born on 15 Feb 1798 in Winslow, Kennebec, ME. He died on 12 Dec 1831. Married to Lydia Burrill, 31 Jan 1826.
child vi. John OSBORN(112) was born on 6 Jul 1800 in Fairfield, Somerset, Me. He died on 26 Apr 1893. Married Sally Wing, 12 Dec 1819.
child vii. Sallie OSBORN(112) was born on 18 Dec 1802 in Fairfield, Somerset, Me. She died on 9 Mar 1897. Married Humphrey Burgess.
child viii. Timothy OSBORN(112) was born on 12 Apr 1805 in Fairfield, Somerset, Me. He died on 4 Oct 1898. Married Lydia Burrill (widow of Jacob?), 9 Apr 1835.
child ix. Annie OSBORN(45) was born on 3 Nov 1807 in , Kennebec, ME. She died between 1844 and 1850 in , ME. She was christened. Married to Joshua WING, 26 Jun 1826; had 7 children, one of whom was Simon WING (1827-1911). Simon was candidate of the Socialist Labor Party for U.S. Presidency in 1892. Simon received 21,164 popular votes compared to 5,554,414 for the winner, Grover Cleveland (Dem.). Simon was a 1st cousin of Sullivan H. Osborn. One of Simon's brothers, Isaac, claimed to be a descendant "of Deborah Wing, who came to this country in company with others on the Mayflower" (no Deborah Wing was listed as a passenger of the Mayflower).
child x. Mary OSBORN(112) was born on 8 Aug 1811 in Fairfield, Somerset, Me. She died on 13 Jun 1831.
