CHARLES HULSMAN was born Abt. 1845 in Prussia. He married LOUISA KOCH on 13 Sep 1871 in Quincy, Adams, IL¹⁴, daughter of CHARLES KOCH and MARGARET.

Different spellings of his name, Charles Hulsman in 1870 and 1905 (he was deceased by then), C. Hultzman (1880), Charles Hulsum in 1860, and Karl Huelsmann in1871.

1860- A 15 y.o. Charles Hulsum is found in Gouldsboro,Luzanne,PA. Father named Henry, and younger brother named Edward. Listed as a laborer, born in Germany. If this is my ancestor's family, they would have moved to the USA between 1845 and 1851, figuring from the probable dates of birth of Charles (born in Prussia, Germany), and a younger brother, John (about 6 years younger) , who was born in PA.

1870 Census-Listed as living with Charles Koch family, including Louisa Koch, in Quincy, Adams, IL. He was listed as a cigar maker with personal property valued at $100.

1871- See marriage license- Karl Huelsmann married Louisa Cook in Quincy, Adams, IL

In 1880 census, found as C. Hultzman in Pittsfield, IL. On son, Edward's and Nellie Gratton's marriage certificate, listed as Charles Hulsman.

In 1880 census, listed as a cigar maker.

Sent to Pike County Clerk for death certificate Oct, 2007. His death certificate was not found at the Pike County Clerk's office. His wife, Louisa, is listed as a widow in 1900 census, in Pike County. A daughter named Hattie was listed in 1900 as being 10 y.o. Charles probably died between 1889 and 1900. But, where?
