!SOURCE: E-mail from whipple307@aol.com to the Whipple Website, 26 Mar 2002. Reports that Seneca's father, David, was in Oakland County, Brandon Township, Michigan in the 1845 census for that county, as well as the 1850 and 1860 censuses. In the 1870 census he is no longer listed as the head of household, but Seneca Prosser Whipple is listed as head instead.

Notes for H
ORACE WHIPPLE:
Horace, son of David, is most likely the single listing in the 1845 Oakland County census listing as one of the two males listed as "over 10 but under 21"(p 36). In the 1850 census he is listed as a 21 year old carpenter. In the 1860 census, there is a Horace C. listed in the Ionia County census on 58c. This is most likely Horace, David's son, as in the 1870 census a 41 year old carpenter from NY is listed on the Ionia County/Orleans Township books. He has a 35 year old wife, Harriet, and four children: Wilbur 11, David 8, Frederick 5 and Alice J 3. This information is found in roll 676 pg 603. Brother Seneca is in Oakland County at the family farm (Series M593, Roll 694 pg 171. There is also listed in VanBuren county, Hartford Township, roll 706 pg 391 a 41 year old Simeon from NY (he should only be 36 if the 1850 census is correct). Within the Ionia census records, there is an Amos Whipple listed as a 22 year old farm laborer on the Charles Hurd farm (dwelling 109) but it is not known if he is a relative.

ORACE WHIPPLE and HARRIET are:
