Family Origins

The Wiese, Berndt, Reckitt, Benington, Sims, Alvey Home Page

The surnames that I am researching are Wiese and Berndt, my family; Reckitt and Bennington, my late wife's family; and Jacobs, Sims, Alvey, Logsdon, my present wife's family. The Wiese and Berndt start in Germany. The Reckitt and Benington lines start in England. The others start in England and Ireland and cover the early history of Kentucky.

I have had the greatest difficulty with my own family. My paternal grandfather lived (at least most of his life) in Wisconsin, and his wife's name was Mary. The children were Flora, George, Emil, Ervin, Alvin, and Stanley. My grandfather must have been born in February 1869. The rest is unknown.

The Berndts, my mother's family, emigrated from Germany in 1892 and settled in the area near Valparaiso, Indiana. The family at that time consisted of Johann Friederick Berndt, his wife, Lena (Tews) Berndt, and their oldest son Otto. I remember that my mother told me years ago that the came from the area of Deutsch Krone, which is now known by the name of Walz, and is part of Poland.

Any information I have is available to anyone requesting it. In return, I would appreciate their doing the same. Thank you.
