98. Joseph Wilcoxson (243)(244) was born on 17 Jan 1695 in Killingworth, Middlesex Co., CT. He died on 3 May 1774 in Killingworth, Middlesex Co., CT. He has reference number 49. Known as "Deacon Joseph". Joseph served his town as Justice of the Peace and Deputy to the Hartford Assembly. About the time of his marriage he removed from the southern part of Killingworth (The modern Clinton) to Tower Hill in the northern part of the township, which was then unsettled wilderness. Tower Hill then remained in this branch of the family for about 75 years, being sold by his grandchildren, Nathan, Joel, Elon, and Thankful in 1800 to Jedediah Harris. (See Vol. 16 pg. 39, Killingworth Land Records). Both Joseph and Rebecca are buried in Union District Cemetery, Killingworth. Gravestones still standing.

He was married to Rebecca Hurd (daughter of Ebenezer Hurd and Sarah Pickett Lane) on 13 Aug 1724. Rebecca Hurd(245) was born in 1695. She died on 26 Dec 1770 in Killingworth, Middlesex Co., CT. Joseph Wilcoxson and Rebecca Hurd had the following children:

child355 iii. Joseph Wilcoxson(246) was born on 11 Sep 1728 in Killingworth, Middlesex Co., CT. He died on 15 Jun 1747. He has reference number 136. Joseph was killed by the falling of a tree while mowing the fields with his brothers Elijah and Adam.
