5. Samuel Wilcoxson (16)(17) was born in 1640 in Stratford, Fairfield Co., CT. He died on 12 Mar 1713 in Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT. He has reference number 5. Known as "Sergeant Samuel". He removed first to Windsor. He removed next to Simsbury, CT where he and his descendants continued to abide for about a century and a half. He represented Simsbury in the Connecticut Assembly at Hartford for many years. Samuel was the sixth named patentee of Simsbury, serving as Sergeant in the Simsbury Trainband periodically from May 1689 to May 1712. He was a distinguished citizen of Simsbury, living at Meadow Plain and one often comes across his name in town records where he acts as town attorney in many land transfers.

He was married to Hannah Rice (daughter of Richard Rice and Mary ________) in 1665 in Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. Samuel Wilcoxson and Hannah Rice had the following children:
