Jesse enlisted in Mar 28, 1918 for WWI. He served in France July 15,
1918 until Dec 19, 1918 and in Germany Dec 19, 1918 - May 20, 1919. He
was seriously injured when gassed (mustard gas?). He returned with
damage to the lungs and much later had a stroke, which paralyzed all but
two fingers. His mother,Annie Brown cared for Jesse many years in her
home, until her death in 1959.

Jesse had light hair and blue eyes and was 5 ft. 3 in. tall.

Billy, his brother did not marry until Annie died. He spent many years
taking care of Annie and Jessie and maintaining their home.[2271980 des.ged]
