Sept. 22, 1908 - Miss Myra King of the Falls, who was teaching at Banks school, south of Matfield, with two of her pupils were drowned in South Fork on their way home from school. Nela Fultz and Victor Rector were the two pupils.

Chase County Historical Sketches Volume II page 398
September 30, 1910 Mentions the case of J. L. King against Matfield Township. King's daughter Myra was drowned while attempting to cross Soth Fork at the Old hick's Ford two years ago. Others drowned were Nealy Fultz, nine year old daughter of of Mr. and Mrs. A.J. Fultz, and Victor, six year old son of Mr. and Mrs. A.T. Rector. All three families brought suit for $6,000 apiece. Each got judgement for $250.
