State of Tennessee unto Eppy Woodby & his heirs 50 acres in Carter County, TN "on the waters of Indian Creek, in Limestone Cove... Surveyed the 17th day of August 1826. Signed by William Carroll, Governor of the State of Tennessee on the 20th day of April 1827." (Have copy)


Deed No. 1038, dated 4th day of January 1826 grants 300 acres in Carter County, TN to Eppy Woodby & his heirs, lying "on the waters of Indian Creek adjoining a late entry made by Samuel Smith.... James Swift, Jr, b. 3 Dec 1821, Watauga Co., NC, was the son of James and
Lydia (Eggers) Swift. He married 19 Jul 1848 in Ashe Co., NC, Elizabeth Ann
Wallace, dau. of Josiah and Nancy (Widby/Woodby) Wallace. They moved to Putnam
Co., Tennessee in 1859 then to White Co., c.1872. James, Jr. died 11 Aug 1883.
Widow Elizabeth Swift applied for pension on his service on 19 Jun 1907 but
died before receiving pension, 7 Dec 1907. Both are buried in Wilson Cemetery.
