* Port & Cribb Family History/Pleasant Hill, SC/Georgetown Co.*

Updated September 16, 2003

I have just started researching the Port side of our family history and would welcome any help that can be given to fill in the missing pieces of our family puzzle. Each person listed here has played an important role in making our family what it is today. We have always been a very close knit, loving and caring family. As you read through our history, I hope you will be very mindful of how proud we are to be a part of this family.

The Frank Cribb history is my maternal grandmother, Adria Cribb Port's family. This family was made up of some of the best people I have ever known. Much of the information on the side of our family came from Ben Rawls, son of Mitchell & Bernice Earline Williams Rawls and grandson of Samuel Benjamin and Lottie Cribb Rawls.

I have done the Leonard Cribb side of the Cribb family history in loving memory of a paternal aunt, Emma Cribb Moore and her great love of family. Even though Aunt Emma was very poor and at times did not even have a journal to write in, she took the time to hand write everything she knew about our family. She would write on whatever she had, punch holes and tie the pages together with sewing thread.

Throughout her notes, she talks about her love for family and hoping that someday we would all get to know each other. She often mentioned litte tidbits she remembered about the people she loved.

She always had a "memory box" where she kept newspaper clippings, pictures or anything else she had regarding her family. When she presented her memories to my sister, Bobbie Cribb Cusack, she included newspaper clippings of different events with her handwritten notes noting who each person was.

I am sure a lot of the names are misspelled,however, I hope each person who reads this history will remember the time and love Aunt Emma put into this project.

Since most of this information was taken from memory, please let me know of any posted information that may not be accurate. Every effort has been made to verify as many facts as I could.

Even though Aunt Emma is no longer with us her memories will live on forever. I hope this family history will spark many wonderful memories of your childhood or days past.
