James Larry Yarborough (b. February 17, 1941)

James Larry Yarborough (son of Tyre Frank Yarborough and Ruby Feaster) was born February 17, 1941 in Richland County. He married Edna Louise Cribb on January 23, 1965 in Pleasant Hill/Georgetown County, SC/Family Homeplace, daughter of Marvin Beauford Cribb, Sr. and Edna Vernell Port.

Larry graduated from Eau Claire High School and the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC. He received an honors degree in mechanical engineering. While still in college he worked with International Paper Co. in Georgetown, SC during the summers. When he graduated he went with IP where he spent his entire career. He retired after 38 years with the company on June 18, 2003. At the time of his retirement he and Edna were living in Cincinnati, OH. During his career he and his family moved 13 times, living in Greenville, NC; Greenwood, SC; Mobile, AL (3 times); Glens Falls, NY; Shreveport, LA; Greenville, SC and Cincinnati, OH. He was manager of IP reconfiguration in Georgetown, SC in 1983. While still with IP, he was loaned to the Governor of the SC, John West, to assist with the review and revision of the state budget. This was a project that consisted of 38 professionals from all across SC who were chosen to work closely with the state for six months. On November 4, 1971 at the end of this project he was awarded "The Order of the Palmetto" which distinguished him as a "Palmetto Gentleman". This is the highest honor bestowed by the state. In 2001, he was chosen by his fellow employees to receive IP's VIP award.
